The Golden Spoon

A gift from my mother-in-law, her fancy, vintage teacup became the centerpiece of this still life oil painting. With graceful fluted sides decorated with pink roses, green leaves and gold luster accents, it was both elegant and complex. I placed it on a white cloth, and - in order to echo the colors on the teacup - added some red and green seedpods from a potpourri mix. I added the black, tin canister for a note of dark. But……. something was missing. When I placed the small golden spoon in the saucer, everything came together. Hence, the title, “The Golden Spoon.” Enjoy.
